Why our leather goods are hand stitched.

Hand stitching has been used in leatherwork for centuries, long before modern machines existed. The most common method is called a saddle stitch, which uses two needles and a single thread passed through each hole from opposite sides. This creates a locked stitch that won’t unravel if one section wears out.

Many leather workers choose hand stitching because it’s strong, reliable, and well suited for thick, full-grain leather. Machines can struggle with dense hides, while hand stitching allows for consistent tension and control throughout the piece.

Hand-stitched leather goods often take longer to make, but that slower process is part of the appeal. Each stitch is placed intentionally, resulting in durable wallets, bags, and accessories designed to hold up to years of daily use.

For people looking for long-lasting leather goods, hand stitching is often a sign of traditional craftsmanship and durability rather than mass production.
